Alexander J. Chotkowski selected to be keynote speaker at Boy Scouts Veterans' Day program
November 10th event takes place at Desmond Hotel

Alexander J. Chotkowski, a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom II, has been selected by the Chester County Council of the Boy Scouts of America to be the keynote speaker of the Boy Scouts' Veterans' Day Recognition Breakfast.

"The event is designed to honor those who served our country," said Chotkowski, "I'm honored to be able to assist in the program being staged by the Boy Scouts."

The event takes place at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2006, at the Desmond Hotel, 1 Liberty Blvd., Malvern. Reservations are required and donations to cover the cost of the breakfast will be accepted.

Chotkowski said he will discuss how leadership is critical in all aspects of American culture and why organizations like the Boy Scouts are important in developing leaders to take on the challenges that we face in our society and around the world. A patriotic program will be presented and the event is scheduled to conclude by 9:00 a.m.

Since returning from his tour in Iraq, Chotkowski practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation. A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Chotkowski earned his BA at Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, Pennsylvania, and his law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire.

He is a Major in the Marine Corps Reserve and in Iraq served as a Company Commander for a 155-member Marine unit responsible for logistics and convoy operations. He is on the Board of Directors for the Chester County Pops Orchestra, a mentor for the Gift for Learning Law Explorer program and a member of the West Chester VFW. He resides in West Chester with his wife, daughter, and son.

Chotkowski is an active member of the Bar Associations of Connecticut and Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, United States District Courts for Connecticut and Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and United States Supreme Court. He has been a member of the Chester County Bar Association since 2002 and the Bar Association's Keynote speaker for "Law Day 2005." Chotkowski has conducted leadership seminars for businesses and students throughout Chester County.

Chotkowski received a commission from the United States Marine Corps in August 1994, after completing Officer Candidate School. He completed Naval Justice School in Newport, R.I., and was certified as a Marine Judge Advocate on October 1, 1997. His first tour of duty was performed at Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, S.C. There he served as the Chief Military Prosecutor and Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina. Chotkowski was promoted to his current rank of Major on March 1, 2004.

After completion of his active duty obligations in August 2000, Chotkowski entered into civil litigation with a Hartford, Connecticut, law firm and then in 2002 moved to Chester County where practiced law before his deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
