The members of the Chester County law firm of MacElree Harvey raised $2,500 to aid the West Chester Police Athletic League (PAL) during a dress down day at the firm. "I'm deeply grateful to my colleagues at MacElree
Harvey for their generous contributions," says Laurie Wyche-Abele,
an attorney with MacElree Harvey and Chair of the Board of Directors of
PAL. The donation was raised during a dress down day on July 14th. Firm members paid $5 to wear jeans, sneakers and t-shirts to work. The employees raised $1,250 and the firm matched their contributions. "We encourage our members to become involved in worthwhile community projects," comments Lance J. Nelson, Managing Partner of the firm. " PAL provides needed programs for the youth in our community and so helping PAL, especially when funds are tight, is meaningful." Wyche-Abele continues, "For thirty-eight years the Police Athletic and Academic League of Greater West Chester has served this community. Now, PAL is reaching out to our community in the hope that the community will help prevent the closing of our doors. Without immediate community support, PAL's closing is a certainty." "For those who are unfamiliar with PAL, PAL is about family," she explains. "It is a small, devoted organization that helps the youth of Chester County by providing after school services for those who need it the most, kids from families that cannot afford after school care. PAL provides services such as homework assistance and painting, swimming, and comic book creation, free of charge to those in need." Anyone interested in supporting PAL should direct donations to the "Police Athletic League of Greater West Chester," 208 East Market Street, West Chester, PA 19380. |
